Pastoral Residency

Morningside Baptist is in a season of Spirit-led revitalization and seeking a committed and multi-gifted Pastoral Resident. This role consists in leading within various avenues of Church Ministry. The Resident will provide faithful teaching and leadership while still acquiring desired ministry experience. 

 

The church is dedicated to resourcing this position with practical support, spiritual partnership, and training. This is an excellent opportunity for someone called to serve who desires to grow in experience and impact while serving in a flexible, mission-driven setting.

primary responsibilities 

Youth Ministry:

  • Assist in launching a gospel-centered ministry for middle and high school aged youth (grades 6–12), focusing on discipleship, spiritual formation, and belonging. 

  • Teach regularly on Sunday mornings, lead occasional Wednesday gatherings, and coordinate special events and outings throughout the year.

  • Build meaningful relationships with youth through personal discipleship and outreach in the surrounding community.

  • Coordinate with the Senior Pastor and other youth leaders to ensure a unified and intentional youth ministry approach.

Adult Ministry:   

  • Prepare to preach on Sunday morning every 6-7 weeks or as needed. This is an invaluable opportunity to develop preaching skills and edify the church body. 

  • Assist in teaching Adults on Sunday morning as needed (Youth would be the priority but program is still developing). 

  • Assist with New Believers and Faith Foundation classes as they are developed and scheduled.

General Expectations:

  • Participate in the church’s life and vision, including worship, outreach events, and ministry team meetings.

  • Serve joyfully and humbly as part of a gospel-centered leadership team committed to revitalization.

  • Model Christian maturity, integrity, and a heart for mission in every area of service.

 

Qualifications and Training:

  • Applicants can be single or married. Current ministry students are encouraged to apply. 

  • Strong agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and SBC mission and values.

  • A heart for discipling and connecting with the unchurched in the community.

  • Pastoral Resident will meet regularly with Senior Pastor for mentoring and documented assessment.

  • Complete Pastoral Ministry curriculum which includes education on Revitalization and Pastoral Ministry foundations.

Hours AND Benefits

  • Work Hours: 4–6 hours per week.

  • Benefits:

    • Monthly fuel reimbursement.  

    • Book allowance for current students if needed. 

    • Additional meal and benefits will be available. 

    • Future supplemental income will be discussed.
